8/1/2012: Columbus Paid Considerable Transfer Fee For Higuain
By Ryan Kozlowski
In the Argentine Cronista.com's Business section they describe that the sale of transfers was low in the Argentina Primera during this transfer period, with only $38 million being brought in by 7 Primera clubs.
I haven't seen the transfer fee price, that Columbus reportedly paid for Higuain, until I came across this website:
Colon de Santa Fe also got rid of Federico Higuain for us $650,500 (530,000 euros), the Columbus Crew paid.
That has to be by far the highest transfer fee paid by the Columbus Crew, if Columbus has ever paid a transfer fee before.
I believe Andres Mendoza and Guillermo Barros Schelotto were out of contract, so was Sergio Herrera.
Which means the Crew top brass is banking on Federico Higuain to bring the results and with the results, the fans to Columbus Crew Stadium.
